About every two weeks when I stop to pick up the T&G on my way to work, the store I stop at on Main St in Worcester doesn't have any due to poor planing on the papers fault. No wonder sales are down.

New show by The Worm Bros. We play lots of spooky music, DMZ live from Church last week and Numbskulls live at Ralph's earlier this month. Speaking of Ralph's, what a great party last Saturday for Steve's 10th anniversary . Numbskulls started it all off, Huck were warming up for their CD release party Nov 8th, Bottlefight destroyed the place, and The Pathetics were in fine form, and The Classic Ruins came all the way from Boston to help with the vibe. This 3+ minute cartoon/music-video is set in 1982, in a fictionalized "Wurmtown" (aka Wormtown aka Worcester MA). The 1960s Beatles cartoon series is an obvious touchstone.

Cameo appearances include those by Bobb Trimble (at 1:00), Captain PJ (at the end), and Oscar the Squirrel (throughout). This will be the first in a series, we hope!

Wormtown Really Trippy Accouterments!
As you may have seen, they have a new design on the busses around town. They even have some real space-age looking ones with big blue displays on the front. The only thing is, when they picked a paint scheme , they looked back to another era, when gas was cheap, and Spags had the best deals in town. I took this at the airport. They send a bus there every hour just in case a plane happens to fly in and someone needs to go Downtown. And to make matters worse, 1976 called. They want royalties.

Last month I had a post on the Mongolian Death Worm, and now I found this. Metal Eating "Super Worms" discovered in the UK. These would surely kick those Beetles ass, and if we're not careful, Worms will take over the Earth!!!!

So go rock out on a school night and say thanks to Becky for entertaining us .

A short clip from Friday at The Lucky Dog as they celebrate 15 years of rockin' in Wormtown, with Jeff Crane ,Dave Cuneo, and Jimmy Buscarino. Rick has played all over the world and we're lucky he calls Worcester home.

Punk Rock at Ralphs this week on Thursday. The Core Four , minus one along with Musclecah and The Pathetics. That's right, Thirsty Thursday leads you to Fucked Up Friday. So instead of fighting your hangover , go to The Lucky Dog for the 15th anniversary show of Rick Blaze and the Ballbusters.Rick has been the worldwide ambassador of Wormtown Rock for years, so go help him and the band celebrate. Also on Friday, Guns Of Navarone open for Black River Sound at Ralphs.
That ought to keep you all busy.


And on a side note, The Wormtown Music Festival is this weekend. Do NOT be confused. This has nothing to do with Real Wormtown Punk Rock. Those hippies stole it years ago, and I do not endorse it. And if I had a cheap lawyer, I'd sue their dirty hippy asses. They never even said thank you.

I have begun going back through the archives here at The Wormstead , and will be posting fliers, articles, and other assorted stuff from the History of Wormtown. Today deals with the opening of Xit on Millbury St and the notorious show by Flipper. What a way to open a new punk club, with one of the most controversial bands of the day. The Commandos opened , followed by The Freeze from Cape Cod. Then Flipper , from San Fransisco took the stage after visiting WICN and The Midheaven Restaurant with a case of beer in tow. Needless to say , they were in top form.

Here is the latest from The Worm Bros on wurn.org featuring the recordings from The Unnatural Axe 30th Anniversary show. You'll hear Miss Chain and the Broken Heels from Italy, Willie Alexander and the Boom Boom Band, and Unnatural Axe along with their special guest Cheetah Chrome from The Dead Boys. What a great rockin/punk extravaganza it was. Also, some more great music from the Worm Bros as we watch the summer season fade away.
