I'm ever upper class high society
God's gift to ballroom notoriety
I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small
The social pages say I've got
The biggest balls of all

What's the deal w/ the set order? Which band is last? I'm going to the Sox game that night, but I'll run home quick, if AC/DC is the late set.

I don't think your band is very good.

Re: AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper - May 21, 2005

AC/DC is the last set. And it is a Powerload.

Re: AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper - May 21, 2005

The very first one of these Green Street Music Series Shows was January 2003 with the Exile on Green Street show. I am reminiscing about that show and thinking about how much fun this series has been. It's a shame we only do these shows one time.

I hope that you can make it out to #7.

Here is the flyer for that first show.

and a photo from that night.

So far the bands we have honored or destroyed depending on your perspective have been, in order;

1)The Rolling Stones
2)The Beatles
3)The Police / The Clash
4)The Who
5)Tom Petty /Bruce Springsteen
6)The Cars / Elvis Costello / Blondie / Cheap Trick

If my memory was better I could tell you the house band and the guests for each of these nights.

Back in the day, when we were getting the Clash/Police show ready, Greg M asked me if I had any ideas for what bands the series should cover. I was like "f%#king AC/DC, man." He was like, "Yeah, right." I said "I'm totally serious, man." He kinda laughed at me, and brushed it off. I might've stuck with the series when he asked, if I thought an AC/DC night would ever actually happen.

I have been involved with the ins and outs of all of these shows but to this day the selection of the bands that we play tribute to is a mystery.

I am pulling for a REM/The Cure night like you wouldn't believe.

being such a rediculous REM fan I am only including The Cure to throw them a bone ;-) In my opinion REM can do the whole night.

Here are the two sets of REM songs that I can see being done at a GSMS show. I omitted some of my favorites in favor of some of the more popular ones. Believe me I would rather play Moral Kiosk and Wind Out, but for the sake of putting on this type of show here is what I came up with. Hits baby, hits!

SET ONE
Begin the Begin
Gardening At Night
(Don't Go Back To) Rockville
So. Central Rain
Pretty Persuasion
Harborcoat
Driver 8
I Believe
Can't Get There From Here
These Days
Superman
Fall On Me
Finest Worksong

SET TWO
Nightswimming
The One I Love
I Believe
Pop Song '89
Stand
What's the Frequency, Kenneth?
Everybody Hurts
Orange Crush
Man On The Moon
Losing My Religion
Radio Free Europe
It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Someone more capable than I, can come up with the two Cure sets.

Re: AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper - May 21, 2005

nice set list...I would include either "I'll take the rain" or "All the way to Reno" from Reveal or "Lotus" from UP...just to have the later years represented. I assume I will be playing Mandolin for this show?

If it was a whole night with 4 sets I could see those songs in there. In your Green Street Music Series fantast you can have those Barry :)

I think you playing mandolin on Losing My Religion would be fantastic.

If Greg doesn't want to do this show, I will just book it at Ralph's. Watch out Greg, the Grove Street Music Series is in the house! And I don't even need to change the logos GSMS!

no pilgramage!? no 9-9?! no wendell G?! The list goes on and on!

Seriously, I would sign up to actually sing at least 2 of these songs (driver 8 and rockville), although I think doing the lmr with barry would be AWESOME!

But really, take out stand. :)

This isn't my fantasy list, this is just the list that I think would make a great show. The amount of people that would show up to hear 9-9, sadly wouldn't fill a room.

Now if this was a 4 set night of REM then hell yeah 9-9, Pilgrimage, Catapult, Feeling Gravity's Pull, Box Cars, These Days, Exhuming McCarthy, Second Guessing, Moral Kiosk, Star Me Kitten, Drive and on and on and on
