It's the universal social and musical dilemma, right? You go see Scott and Michael at Vincent's on Tuesday, and on Thursday you see Duncan and his many special guests at the Dive Bar. Life is good for those two days, but on Wednesday you flounder around in a fog, unmoored and drifting, desperate for some good original music but uncertain where to turn. The hours between Tuesday and Thursday evening stretch on and on, like a Nigel Tufnel guitar solo . . .
I am happy to announce that for the next couple of weeks (May 7th and 14th), you can satisfy your Wednesday soul by turning up at Nick's Bar and Restaurant, at 124 Millbury St., around 8:30. There you will hear Hat On, Drinking Wine play a mix of originals and wicked cool covers. You can eat German food, relax, and while away your lonesome Wednesday evenings. If you all come down and have a good time, we'll see how long we can extend our Wednesday run there.
We hope to keep it relaxed and casual, so if anyone wants to come down and jump in on piano or guitar or vocals for a song or two--or if Duncan wants to bring down his drum kit--you will all be most welcome.
Nice!

Thread bumping. It should be an Olympic sport. Or a raunchy dance.
Don't forget to come down to Nick's on Wednesday at 8:30; you can case out the joint for the music mixer on June 2nd. You can eat German food, drink beer, listen to cool music. We'll play your favorite Wilco song, as long as your favorite Wilco song is "Jesus Etc.," "Hummingbird," or "California Stars."
I promise I'll only do this one more time on Wednesday.
I love California Stars.
I love California Stars. Being a huge Billy Bragg fan, it wasn't until Mermain Avenue I &II, and especially Man in the Sand, that I became a huge fan of Wilco. The stuff they did on those two albums, particularly California Stars is fantastic.
California Stars was the
California Stars was the first Wilco tune I ever heard, and I was immediately addicted to it. I still love it. This will be our first crack at it, but it's a pretty simple song, so we should be OK.
"They hang like grapes, on vines that shine."

yeah, from the first line on it's just a great song. Mission accomplished with bringing attention to Woody, for sure.
"I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight, On a bed of California stars"
